Pat Testing Association

Once an electrical test is conducted on your electrical appliances, each item is issued a sticker which indicates if it has passed or failed the series of tests. This is visibly seen as a green sticker is issued if the appliance has passed and a red sticker if it has failed. You will then be given a PAT testing certificate which will show all the results of the electrical test.

If an appliance fails the electrical tests and if it is a danger, then the PAT tester is able to remove it from the area. If it is not a danger, then you will be advised to have it replaced so that it does not cause any damage in the future.

It is important to have PAT tests carried out as you want to ensure all electrical appliances are safe to use by yourself and those around. It is a simple series of tests including a visual inspection, lead polarity, earth continuity and insulation resistance checks. Not having an electrical test done can lead to hefty fines being issued or even imprisonment.
