Pat testing is the testing of electrical appliances ensuring that they are safe to use. It involves a visual inspection followed by an earth continuity test, lead polarity and insulation resistance checks. Once each appliance is tested, they are given a green sticker if the appliance has passed the PAT test or a red sticker if it has failed. At the end you are given a certificate which shows all the results and is kept as proof that you have ensured all electrical appliances are safe.
