PAT testing is not required by the law. But what is required by the law is that your electrical appliances are checked to ensure that they are safe. This legal requirement does not state how this has to be achieved and by who. So, PAT testing is the best way to have this achieved as PAT testing checks each electrical appliance through a series of tests. This is carried out by a PAT testing engineer which will give you a certificate at the end to show the results. If you do not have your electrical appliances checked this can lead to hefty fines and even imprisonment as you are putting yourself and others in danger.
