I needed to find a local PAT testing company to have the electrical appliances in one of the I.T rooms in a secondary school checked and came across the PAT testing association. In this I.T room, there are several PC’s and monitors all around the room as well as one floor standing printer. Over the few months, this equipment has been moved around the room a few times and I had noticed that the wiring was getting tangled and so I was worried that there might be a bigger problem. So, I informed the PAT Testing Association of this and they were happy to come to the school during the Easter holiday when there were no students on the premises and conduct thorough tests to check the electrical safety. This was done quickly and all the PC’s and monitors were individually checked, especially the cable work as this was the most dangerous and I knew could cause an accident if it was not tested. The PAT testing engineer labelled each PC’s and monitor with a green sticker indicating that it had passed the test. At the end, I was given a certificate showing the PAT testing results which I will keep as a reminder that I will need to conduct another PAT test in the following years. I was informed that if the electrical equipment’s were moved around a lot and also used a lot as the equipment in the I.T rooms, that I should always be cautious and take notice of any visible damage too. This was a great service provided by the PAT Testing Association which was local and quick to respond to my requests.
