Pat testing is the testing of electrical appliances ensuring that they are safe to use. It involves each appliance going through a visual inspection followed by a series of tests including: earth continuity, lead polarity and insulation resistance checks. after each appliance is PAT tested, a sticker is issued indicating whether it has passed or failed. These stickers are usually green if an appliance has passed the PAT testing and a red sticker if it has failed. After the PAT testing, a certificate is given to you to show that you have had a PAT test done. The certificate shows all the PAT testing results.
By not having PAT testing done, you are putting yourself and colleagues in danger as electrically related accidents can be fatal. If you do not have a PAT test done then you are also breaking the law as it is a legal requirement for businesses to have their electrical appliances checked regularly. By not having PAT testing done, you may face hefty fines and even imprisonment depending on the severity of the case.
Here at the PAT Testing Association we can help you have a PAT test arranged so that you can make sure all electrical appliances are safe to use and get the results you need.
