There is no required frequency of how often you should have portable appliance testing, instead you should take into consideration how often you use your portable appliances and the type of environment that they are in. If they are heavily used then it is more likely that they will be damaged and so require a full PAT test. Another factor you should consider is the type of equipment you have in your environment. If you have portable appliances that are mostly Class 1 then you should consider having more frequent PAT tests as they are more dangerous. Examples of Class 1 appliances are: photocopiers, floor standing printers, desktop computers, industrial machinery, etc. Taking into consideration these factors, this may be more helpful when considering how often you should have a PAT test carried out, any further questions can be answered by the PAT Testing Association.
