Portable Appliance Testing regulations are placed so that it ensures that all electrical appliances in your working environment are safe to use and that you have maintained a safe working environment for employees.
Regulations that should be conformed to are:
– Health and Safety at Work Act of 1974
– Electricity at Work Regulations of 1989
– Provision and Use of Work Equipment regulations of 1998
– the Management of Health and Safety at Work regulations of 1999
In order to conform to these regulations, a PAT test is the best way to do this.
These regulations are placed so that all equipment is kept in good condition through frequent PAT tests and inspections as damages and faults can occur in all different types of electrical appliances so it is important to have them tested.
