A PAT tester helps ensure the safety of your electrical appliances. This is done by conducting a series of tests on each individual appliance which are the: earth continuity, lead polarity and insulation resistance checks. Each appliance firstly goes through a visual inspection, followed by the full PAT test. Every appliance is marked passed or failed after all the tests, and all the results are presented on a certificate.
The PAT test is carried out by a PAT tester, which is someone that has the required electrical training and knowledge to carry out the test. It is important it is carried out by someone trained as they know what equipment to use, how to use the equipment to carry out the PAT test and they are able to interpret the results.
The PAT test is important to have carried out you want to make sure that your working environment or home is electrically safe. By carrying out a PAT test you are avoiding potentially dangerous accidents as well as fines if you do fail to have a PAT test done.
